Ethan Page has hailed MJF as the mastermind behind The Firm, revealing that it is “very much” his project.
After parting ways with Jade Cargill, Stokely Hathaway set about recruiting a new roster of wrestlers to take under his wing. After weeks of leaving his business cards with a number of AEW stars, the purpose of the exercise became clearer at All Out.
A group of masked individuals stormed the ring during the Casino Ladder Match as one member of the group grabbed the casino chip and handed it to the Joker who was also under a mask. The Joker was later revealed to be MJF.
Two weeks later on Dynamite, the group of W. Morrissey, Lee Moriarty, Ethan Page and the Gunn’s were introduced by Hathaway as The Firm. A group whose sole purpose is to have the back of MJF when required.
Speaking in a new interview with Comicbook, Ethan Page revealed that MJF was heavily involved in the creation of the group behind the scenes.
“He handpicked everybody, this was a very much a project that had MJF’s fingerprints all over it. I’ve had more opportunities to speak. I’ve been put in a spotlight more. Stokely Hathaway will happily take a back seat to Ethan Page. I don’t know if Dan Lambert and Scorpio Sky would say the same.”
MJF recently praised Page in an interview of his own, and now the former IMPACT Wrestling star has returned the favour describing the Salt of the Earth as “the biggest star” in AEW.
“It’s a great pat on the back. He’s an opinion that people value, especially in the professional wrestling world, and he’s the biggest star in All Elite Wrestling. To have the biggest dog say your name is always a good thing.”
Although Ethan Page might be looking forward to being part of The Firm, former WCW star and Mexican wrestling legend Konnan has been less impressed. Konnan recently branded Hathaway “very un-entertaining” while expressing his concerns about the group.
