Ethan Page has revealed his reasons for choosing to sign with All Elite Wrestling over joining WWE during his time as wrestling’s hottest free agent.
Page competed in IMPACT Wrestling between 2017 and January 2021. During his time in that company, Page captured the IMPACT World Tag Titles twice as one half of The North.
After leaving IMPACT in January 2021, rumours ran rampant over Page’s future in the wrestling business. Any questions were answered when ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page debuted for AEW at Revolution in February. Page made his surprise debut as the mystery competitor in the ‘Face Of The Revolution’ ladder match. The match in question was won by Scorpio Sky.
Answering questions on his YouTube channel, Ethan Page detailed his reasons for deciding to become All Elite:
“I wanted to go to AEW from the chance that I even thought about moving from one place to another. AEW was always at the top of my list. I would not be able to do this stream with you guys, I would not be able to answer these questions, I would not be able to do my vlog, Twitch, or any outside projects like that [in WWE].”
“They [AEW] give the talent some really good creative freedom as well to be who they are and who they want to be. You’re going to see ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page. I really had a hand in designing my first t-shirt for AEW. You’re going to see sprinkles of my creativity throughout my AEW career. It’s more of a collaboration.”
WWE Superstars were reportedly banned from having their own third-party content arrangements in the autumn of 2020. Many AEW stars run their own Twitch channels or have YouTube channels to provide their own content.
Page made his AEW Dynamite debut on the episode after Revolution. In that appearance Page defeated ‘Big Shotty’ Lee Johnson in one-on-one competition. After the match, Page then attacked Johnson before being chased off by Dustin Rhodes.
