Ethan Page has made history in WWE NXT in his very short time within the company.
Making a statement with his shock arrival on the May 28th episode of NXT, the former AEW star targeted Trick Williams and went immediately after the top prize on the brand. While Page would be unsuccessful in his first attempt at Battleground, the recent signee would have much better luck at Heatwave when he landed on Je’Von Evans to inadvertently pin the rising star and capture the title as a horrified Williams looked on as it sunk in that he had lost his championship to Page.
Ethan Page’s shock title win at Heatwave occurred just 40 days after his debut, which is now the new record for the shortest time between debuting on the brand and winning the top championship. The previous record was held by Kevin Owens in 2015, who won the title 60 days after his debut by defeating Sami Zayn at the NXT TakeOver: Rival show.
Ethan Page Confronted By Top TNA Star
As Page celebrated his title victory at Heatwave, the feed briefly showed TNA star Joe Hendry’s face onscreen before the show went off the air, signalling the inevitable return of the Scottish sensation. With another tease taking place on Raw, many expected the former Digital Media Champion to appear on the July 9th episode. Luckily for many fans, their wishes were granted as Joe Hendry made his triumphant return to NXT to be the mystery partner for Trick Williams, who was booked in a match against Page and Shawn Spears.
Page would not factor into the finish as he was attacked and chased through the crowd by Meta-Four’s Oro Mensah, who has been targeting Page for a number of weeks. With Spears left alone, Williams and Hendry capitalised to secure the victory.
