Eric Young Recalls Seeking Randy Savage’s Permission To Use Signature Move

Eric Young has revealed that he sought permission from Macho Man Randy Savage to use of one his signature moves.

Throughout his career Eric Young has performed an Elbow Drop from the top rope (Showtime Elbow) as his own little tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Macho Man Randy Savage.

Speaking during an appearance on Cultaholic’s Desert Island Graps, Young recalled asking permission to use the move when he met the WWE legend at a TNA pay-per-view. Young explained that he doubted that Savage had ever seen him wrestle, but appreciated his kindness.

“Macho Man is one of my favourites of all time. I met him when he briefly worked at TNA and he was an amazing guy, super kind to me and very complimentary to me. That was super cool.

Obviously, I had a lot of respect, and I (do the move) and I was working on the pay-per-view that he was working and I had basically done in every match I had for the last 25 years and I went to him and said, ‘If it’s okay with you, I would still like to do it. If you don’t want me to, then I won’t.’ He said, ‘Yup, go head.’ Super cool. Not that he’d ever seen me wrestle, I hope that he knew what my name was, but he gave me permission to do it,

After a four-year stint with WWE which saw Young perform with Sanity and as a singles star, he returned to IMPACT Wrestling in July 2020. After an initial singles run, Young became leader of Violent By Design.

The current IMPACT World Tag Team Champions are scheduled to defend their titles in an eight-team elimination match at Rebellion. With the event set to take place on April 23rd, the three teams are yet to be announced for the match.
