AEW‘s recent season premiere of Dynamite marked a significant transformation, introducing a new theme song, stage design, and colour scheme. Notably, Eric Bischoff expressed his admiration for the new colour scheme, emphasising its visual impact and the immersive experience it creates for viewers.
Eric Bischoff lauded AEW’s endeavour, in a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, to enhance the visual spectacle, aiming to engross the audience as if they were witnessing the action live in the arena.
I love the colours, I know that sounds really weird but I think AEW needed something to make it pop visually, when I watch AEW sometimes I feel like I’m sitting in the arena watching it, and that’s how I like to watch television. If I’m watching wrestling I want to feel like I’m in the arena, I don’t want to feel like I sometimes do with WWE.
In contrast, Bischoff critiqued the perceived lack of vibrancy and character among AEW’s talent, noting a prevailing uniformity in attire that diminishes individuality and distinct personas. He highlighted the need for talent to invest more thought into their gimmicks, expressing concerns about the homogeneity in their appearance, which he likened to attire commonly found at Walmart.
So much of the talent looks like they’ve not given any thought into their gimmick, you’ve got so much of the talent showing up in jeans and ripped-up gear. The lack of colour, there’s a void of character sometimes because everybody kind of dresses the same and looks the same and looks like they get their gear at Walmart.
Despite these observations, Bischoff acknowledged the positive impact of the new colour combination and the introduction of the LED board, commending AEW for these strategic changes.
What Recent Criticism Did Eric Bischoff Have For AEW?
