Vince McMahon will not be back on WWE TV, for now.
Following the surprising news that the previously retired head of the company would be coming out of retirement, the WWE Board of Directors would unanimously elect McMahon as the Executive Chairman of The Board.
While the return is to reportedly set up an eventual sale of the company, company employees and viewers are curious to see if the Chairman will be making an on-screen appearance in front of the WWE Universe in the near future.
“Vince McMahon Notoriously Works 20 Hours A Day” – Eric Bischoff
Eric Bischoff is one of the few people who has got to work closely with Vince McMahon for multiple years. The former Raw General Manager believes that the dust should settle on the corporate restructure before an in-person appearance takes place.
Speaking on the 83 weeks podcast, the former WCW Senior Vice President stated that right now McMahon has higher priority issues than a live TV appearance:
Vince’s primary focus right now is a jump back into the creative saddle. I mean, there’s a lot, obviously. There’s a tonne on his plate of magnitude that I just don’t think even Vince McMahon, who notoriously works, you know, 20 hours a day. I think that would be a little bit much I think Vince is going to be focused on stability, particularly outward facing stability, which is why I think he went to great lengths to acknowledge Nick Khan and Stephanie and Paul Levesque in their roles and assure everybody, did it three times in one press release, I believe, or maybe in different comments, whatever. There were three different occasions that Vince made a point to say, Hey, Paul, and Nick and Stephanie, doing a great job, all the confidence in the world and nothing’s going to change. And if, if that’s true, or accurate, it’s accurate, he said it if it’s true, I think showing up at TV would be even just from our perception wise, even if he just showed up and hung around backstage, I think would be really, it wouldn’t add to the stability of the situation right now. Couple of weeks, maybe once things settle down, but right now I can’t see it.
The return of McMahon has not been welcomed by all. Following the comeback, one shareholder has filed legal action against the new Chairman of the Board.
