Eric Bischoff wants fans to stop comparing AEW to WWE.
At the Elimination Chamber on March 1st, John Cena emerged victorious, securing himself a title opportunity against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. However, it’s the aftermath of Cena’s win that has the world talking.
As Cena and Cody were celebrating together in the ring, The Rock made his entrance, once again demanding that Rhodes give him his soul. Rhodes made it clear that he would not be submitting to The Great One’s demands, and after a signal from Rock, Cena turned on Rhodes, kicking him in the groin and launching a brutal attack. Hip hop megastar Travis Scott was also involved, injuring Rhodes in the process.
The segment has been widely praised by fans and wrestlers alike, and speaking on the latest edition of 83 Weeks, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff was asked if he believed AEW could execute a segment with as much passion and buzz behind it. Bischoff made it clear that comparing All Elite Wrestling to WWE is “unhealthy” as both companies are doing their own thing.
“I think it’s unhealthy to compare AEW to anybody else. AEW is doing AEW things. WWE is doing WWE things, and they’re doing their respective things in their respective universes. They’re not the same universe; why would you compare them? Why would you compare a T-bone steak to — oh, I don’t know — six ounces of yogurt?”
Eric Bischoff Believes Nobody Else Could Do What John Cena Did For WWE
Eric Bischoff’s co-host Conrad Thompson pointed out that the reason AEW can’t create a segment on the level of the Elimination Chamber is that they don’t have a star of John Cena’s level to to execute it, and Bischoff agreed, saying:
“There is nobody out there who could possibly do what John Cena did. That person doesn’t exist.”
