Eric Bischoff Makes Surprise Appearance To Officiate Vow Renewal On Raw

By Sondra Ruth. Published 28th December 2021.

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff made as surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw as the officiant for the most must-see vow renewal ceremony in WWE.

Eric Bischoff is no stranger to wrestling weddings, having served as the disguised officiant for Billy and Chuck in their controversial wedding storyline in 2002.

On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, the WWE Hall of Famer made a surprise return to WWE to serve as officiant once again, this time for the vow renewal ceremony between The Miz and his wife Maryse.

Maryse recited her vows first, tearfully asking “Mike Mizanin, will you continue to be my husband?” Despite the couple’s happy tears, The Detroit crowd booed, but Miz admonished them by pointing out that this crowd willingly lives in Detroit and cheers for the NFL team the Lions.

The groom tried to go above and beyond during his vows by reciting them in his wife’s native French. However, when he missed a pronunciation and then inadvertently switched into Spanish, Maryse comedically insisted that he continue in English.

When Bischoff asked if anyone had any objections to the vow renewal, the sounds of Metalingus played and Edge made his entrance, interrupting the proceedings. He said that he wasn’t out there to ruin anything, but talked about his scheduled match with the groom at Day One and teased that he would embarrass the couple.

After Miz yelled at the WWE Hall of Famer to stop, Edge said, “Wait, you didn’t want this to be a white wedding, did you?” The music of Edge’s former stable The Brood began to play, and Miz and Maryse were subject to a brutal Broodbath, spoiling their beautiful white clothing with a black viscous liquid.

Edge is scheduled to face The Miz at the Day One pay-per-view taking place on January 1, 2022. Elsewhere on the card, Becky Lynch will take on Liv Morgan for the Raw Women’s Championship, and the WWE Championship will be determined in a fatal four way match between Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, and current champion Big E.
