WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has explained why he did not care for a former Royal Rumble winner back in their days competing in the ring.
Lex Luger made a name for himself in the wrestling world in the early days of WCW as the eighties gave way to the nineties. Luger made his WWE debut in early 1993 and within the year he was a co-winner of the 1994 Royal Rumble alongside Bret Hart.
However, Lex Luger never hit the heights of the WWE Championship during his time in the company and by 1995 The Total Package made headlines when he shockingly appeared on the very first episode of WCW Nitro unannounced.
However, the man that brought Lex Luger to WCW, Eric Bischoff, has gone on record to say he was unconvinced it was the right move for the company and he did not think very highly of Luger.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Eric Bischoff bluntly explained how he didn’t like the way Luger was fixated on himself:
“I watched how he carried himself, number one, and how he treated other people, and that’s what turned me off because he was just so focused on himself.”
“That was my perception because I didn’t know Lex. So you only know what you see, which is, you know, something I’m working on every single day, not to judge people by my first impressions. But I didn’t have that frame of mind at the time, so I just thought, man, this cat’s a jackass.”
“I just [didn’t] ever want to have anything to do with him. With me interviewing him, working with him, technically speaking – professional, never, never unprofessional. But I just thought, man, ‘what a jackass.'”
