Eric Bischoff shocked the world when he joined WWE following the company’s acquisition of WCW in 2002, but the former WCW President says the decision for him was a very easy one following a conversation with Vince McMahon.
Speaking with Michael Torres of Lucha Libre Online, Bischoff opened up about first meeting with Vince McMahon via telephone, and how he instantly knew he wanted to work with WWE, and the company’s CEO.
“Oh, I remember the first phone call that we had. It was a great phone call. We got along both very well. I knew almost instantly that I was going to look forward to working for Vince. So it was an easy phone call and it was an easy transition for me.”
Bischoff went on to say the opportunity was very exciting, particularly given the timing – having been convinced during his conversation with Mr McMahon.
“Wrestling had been my life for a long time at that point in an opportunity to work in the WWF and work with a lot of people that I’ve never worked with before was very exciting for me”.
The former General Manager would depart the company five years later, saying it was simply the right time to do so.
