Eric Bischoff Reacts To AEW Dynamite Surpassing WCW Nitro

The Former WWE Tag Team Champions Eric Bischoff Wants To See Have One Final Run

With this week’s episode, AEW Dynamite has officially surpassed WCW Monday Nitro in total episodes aired on TNT, making it the longest-running weekly prime-time wrestling show in Turner Networks’ history.

Tony Khan highlighted the milestone on social media, calling it a proud moment for the company. Former WCW President Eric Bischoff, whose Monday Nitro helped redefine televised wrestling in the 1990s, had no hard feelings about the news. In fact, he took a moment to congratulate Khan during a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast.

“I want to congratulate Tony Khan and his entire staff,” Bischoff said. “This obviously means a lot to them, and congratulations. It does say a lot about Tony’s commitment.”

Bischoff, who made several appearances in AEW during its early years, acknowledged the difficulty of what Khan has achieved, even if he’s not a current viewer of the product.

“Tony put his own money into this. You can judge the product. I can judge the product. I often have, I just don’t watch it anymore,” he said. “But the truth is his vision, his dream, his money, his commitment. So congratulations. Because what he did isn’t easy. No matter how anybody feels about the product, it wasn’t easy and it still isn’t.”

Despite his past critiques of AEW, Bischoff made it clear there’s no bitterness about the company overtaking one of WCW’s historical benchmarks.

“No, it doesn’t bother me a bit. It doesn’t mean anything to me. While it does to Tony and company, and I understand why. He put in a lot of time and work, and money, as I’ve just discussed. So good for them.”

Which Former WCW Star Did Eric Bischoff Say Is “One Of The Nicest People You’ll Ever Be Around”?

Eric Bischoff spoke about who he thinks are the nicest people he’s dealt with in the wrestling business and named 2025 WWE Hall of Fame inductee Lex Luger as someone who “radiates” positive energy. Bischoff then went on to say that former WCW star Ernest “The Cat” Miller is “one of the nicest people you’ll ever be around.”
