In late 2022 Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff became locked in a very public war of words on social media and their respective podcasts.
While there had been well documented issues between the pair going back to their time in WCW and then WWE, it had been believed that was all in the past. However, Flair seemingly took issue with his former boss and Bischoff responded in kind.
Eric Bischoff Doesn’t Know What Sparked Fight With Ric Flair
After a spectacular falling out in WCW over Flair missing a television taping to watch his son compete in a wrestling tournament, Bischoff and the Nature Boy crossed paths again in WWE. During this period the pair got into a physical altercation backstage, which saw Flair throwing punches at his rival.
Speaking during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bischoff recalled the incident explaining that he had no idea why it started. Bischoff explained that they had only been drinking together a week before, but the mood quickly changed. The former Raw General Manager said that he was on the phone backstage when Flair barged into the room shouting, swearing and started throwing punches.
“Well to this day I never really know because we never talked about it. I’ve been able to kind of piece together that there was a point in time in Ric’s life that was a challenging time in his personal life and somehow my name got thrown into a conversation. It just sent him into a tailspin and he got p*ssed off at me all over again, over something that had happened 10 years earlier. He just came in and started firing live rounds. I said ‘Ric, I’m not going to fight you. I’m just not going to fight you.’”
During the conversation with Van Vliet, Bischoff expressed his desire to move on from the spat. The former WWE boss added that he won’t be addressing Flair on his podcast or social media.
