Eric Bischoff likes the direction that AEW Collision is going in.
The former WCW President has garnered the reputation of being one of AEW’s toughest critics, but he’s been giving credit where credit is due, specifically in Tony Khan’s latest venture with “Collision.” The show is only four episodes in, but Bischoff has been a big advocate of what the show has been doing. Now with this week’s ratings showing an upswing, Bischoff’s assessment of the product looks to be getting validated as he had the following to say on the latest episode of “83 Weeks.”
“How do you keep that audience engaged? How do you make them want to stay with your product? Tell them how to watch the show, tell them what’s gonna be important coming up, and create that anticipation before you go into the body of your show. They did that, they did that, and I was very, very excited to see that because it’s an indication to me that at least they’re thinking differently.”
What Excites Eric Bischoff Most About AEW Collision
The latest episode of the program featured a headline fight as CM Punk faced Samoa Joe in the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Cup, but there’s one element that truly gets him excited – strategy.
“They know they’ve got three shows now, each one of them has to have their own personality. Collision, so far, what I watched, obviously, is limited, but production is excellent. First show, I won’t keep putting it over, I thought the pacing, the formatting, placement of certain elements of the show was about as good as it could be. The thing I’m most excited about right now is their thinking. How do they make Collision feel different than Dynamite without making Dynamite less than?”
