Eric Bischoff has claimed one factor might not have had the impact on ratings for AEW Collision that some fans believe.
AEW Collision’s ratings have taken a significant hit since it debuted, averaging only 452,000 viewers for its third episode. This is down from 595,000 viewers the previous week, and 816,000 viewers on debut.
Interestingly, the July 7th episode of the show was the first to be pre-taped, and many fans believe this could have had a significant impact on the ratings. However, speaking on Strictly Business, Eric Bischoff dismissed the idea that this was a key factor in the drop. The former WCW admitted that although pre-taping can have had an impact if it did, it would have been relatively minor.
“I think it can,” Bischoff said. “If I were in Tony’s shoes right now, I would ascribe two or three percent of my loss to that. It does happen, but it usually is minimal, it really is. Two, three, maybe even five percent.”
Eric Bischoff Defends Falling AEW Collision Ratings
During the same episode, Bischoff also pushed back at the idea that the falling ratings should be causing serious concern behind the scenes. Bischoff pointed to the show airing across the Fourth of July Weekend, as a primary reason why ratings could have dropped, although he admitted major competition later in the year could prove to be a problem.
