Eric Bischoff had high praise for Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania return to WWE, calling it “magic.”
Cody Rhodes’ revelation that he was Vince McMahon’s hand-picked opponent for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38 has received high praise across the world, and one person who added his voice to the throngs of people praising the event was former WCW President Eric Bischoff. Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast (available via AdFreeShows), Bischoff said that he was proud and revealed that he reached out to Cody afterwards to tell him so.
“Magic, just one word, magic. Everything from the entrance, the match, the post-match production, the visual reactions to the crowd, what element of that entire presentation was not a 10 on a scale of 1-10. I don’t know, I couldn’t pick it out. That was so good, I was so so happy to be able to watch that live. So proud and I reached out to Cody, we connected afterwards and I’m just so proud for him. I really really am.”
After returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes opened Monday Night Raw and addressed the Dallas crowd, saying that his decision to return to the company for the first time since 2016 was not a difficult one, and any trepidation that he felt washed away after defeating Rollins in front of more than 70,000. During his initial comments he also referenced the end of his previous run with WWE saying he was the “star that left them in the dust,” a nod to his past as Stardust.
In the dark main event to Monday Night Raw, Rhodes faced Kevin Owens, who imitated the Young Bucks during the match.
