Eric Bischoff Makes Startling Claims About R-Truth And WWE: “It’s A Work”

WWE Superstar R-Truth

Eric Bischoff thinks R-Truth’s WWE release and return was a work.

R-Truth initially exited WWE earlier this month, but the fan reaction forced Triple H and the rest of the higher-ups to re-hire Ron Killings just a week after his departure. Although the Chief Content Officer claimed it was all for show, fans believe the superstar was genuinely fired, especially after he and his son said so themselves. However, another name who thinks it’s a work is Eric Bischoff.

On the 83 Weeks podcast with Eric Bischoff and Conrad Thompson, they discussed whether the R-Truth situation was all a work, in which the WCW legend claimed it was. He mocked the fans who said it wasn’t a work and said they don’t truly understand what the word meant.

“People, what is a work? I love it when people use these terms, and not necessarily you Conrad, but in general, in the internet wrestling community, they throw this word around like they really understand what they’re talking about. And they don’t. And it’s evidenced by people saying it is definitely not a work.”

Bischoff added that in the context of wrestling, a work is an angle that creates an emotion and advances a storyline, something that fits the criteria of Truth’s situation.

“What is a work? In the context of a professional wrestling conversation, what is a work? It’s an act. It’s a narrative that’s designed to create an emotion, a very specific emotion that advances a storyline. It’s a work. It’s an angle. The f***g definition of what it’s achieved and continues to achieve, it’s self-defining. It’s a work.”

Conrad Thompson later pointed out that moments before it was announced that Truth had exited the company, WWE took down his best-selling “Ron Cena” merchandise, and the crowd started chanting the superstar’s name. Still, Eric remained firm about believing it was all a work.

Eric Bischoff Comments On R-Truth’s Son Saying It Wasn’t A Work

Another thing that Conrad pointed out to Eric was that Ron’s son himself was saying that it wasn’t a work. Admittedly, this stumped Bischoff, but his thoughts didn’t change about it being all for show. He even recalled his angle with his son, Garrett Biscoff, in TNA in the 2010s.

“When you involve your kids and they’re out there, that puts, I’m kind of back to center on that one. That’s outside of the box of norm. You know what I mean? I’ve seen a lot of stuff and people bring their families in to do some pretty crazy stuff, including my own, by the way, Garrett and I, TNA. So I get it, but I still think, yeah, it’s a work.”
