Eric Bischoff believes that AEW is in danger of wearing out the goodwill of its fans.
Ever since its inception back in 2019, All Elite Wrestling has been compared to WCW. Both promotions aired on the same television network, TNT while finding success as an alternative to WWE.
Another parallel with the companies comes in the form of their amount of content. Due to the success of WCW Nitro, another show, Thunder was added to its schedule, which ultimately led to diluted products all around.
The same can be said of AEW when looking at the addition of Rampage and most recently Collison. The show has constantly struggled to pull in strong viewership numbers and attract fans to the arenas.
Eric Bischoff thinks Tony Khan should concentrate on creative over content
When addressing these comparisons during the latest episode of 83 Weeks, Bischoff went on to speak about why he thinks the promotion is experiencing a drop in rating and attendance.
What I’m seeing in terms of ratings [and] ticket sales [is that] you’re losing the good will. The audience is voting with their remotes and they’re voting with their pocketbooks and they’re losing ground.
When asked to supply a solution the Khan can do to possibly turn the tide, Easy E said:
I think it’s critical. If I was Tony and I wasn’t feeling secure in my renewal position, my negotiation position, I’d be cutting back on content and beefing up my creative, and coming to those meetings with a plan of how I’m going to grow my audience.
The trajectory that they’re on right now is a beach house on a beautiful piece of property and the foundation is cracking. The house is starting to tilt. It hasn’t collapsed yet but fewer and fewer people are interested in renting that piece of property or in this case, watching that property. Not good.
