Eric Bischoff claims that some fans love to hate wrestling to get attention.
Eric Bischoff is among the wrestling industry’s most controversial and outspoken figures. His takes on wrestling often stir up many who have watched for a significant amount of time.
The former Executive Producer and Senior Vice President of WCW even wrote a book about how ‘controversy creates cash.’ Although Bischoff has long been out of the business in an official capacity, he still still retains some strong opinions about wrestling, and wrestling fans in general.
While speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Bischoff stated that some fans express their hate for the industry to get attention on the internet. He described this category of wrestling fans as “psychologically damaged individuals” who want to garner a response from people.
“You have the haters, the people who just love to hate, cause they love to get a reaction on the internet because there’s emotionally stunted psychologically damaged individuals and that’s the only way they get a sh*tty is by participating in that kinda, you know, dirt-sheet universe gaga and they’re particularly haters because that’s how you get a response.”
Bischoff recently commented on speculation regarding WWE potentially changing their programming from PG to TV-14. The Hall of Famer stated that despite some fans believing WWE is trying to compete with AEW, the ratings between both shows tell a different story. Bischoff believes AEW has yet to catch up to WWE and that the TV-14 rating has nothing to do with their being competition.
