Eric Bischoff wants to see a former WWE star become All Elite when they are a free agent.
On April 19th, news broke that multiple WWE stars had been released from their contracts, with the biggest name on the list being former World Champion Jinder Mahal. Although The Modern Day Maharaja had been used less in recent months, Mahal was part of multiple high-profile angles at the start of the year.
Beginning on New Year’s Day, Mahal was in a segment with The Rock, who made his shock return to set up his eventual return match at WrestleMania. A couple of weeks later, Mahal was booked in a title match with then World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Although the match on paper looked to be nothing more than a routine defence for Rollins, the match gained buzz online when Tony Khan took to social media to question why Jinder Mahal had been granted a title shot.
When news broke that Mahal was released, many online stated that Khan should sign the former World Champion and have him feud with Hook, who was also caught up in the infamous tirade.
Discussing the releases on 83 Weeks, Bischoff stated that Khan should play into the online drama that was stirred up back in January and make Mahal a part of AEW:
“Not sure what to make of it [WWE’s releases]. But first of all… if I was Tony Khan and if Jinder is available — and this isn’t a storyline. I’d hire him so fast. Going back to the comments that Tony made about Jinder, that started a whole thing. I mean, it sort of [set] the internet on fire for about three days, four days. It was awesome, it was fun to watch. People are nuts, man. People are nuts on Twitter, and I’m here for it all. It’s the most entertaining thing for me to sit down and watch some of these people go crazy.
“But I would take advantage of that. Take advantage of the fact, Tony, that you stirred up a bunch of s**t by throwing a grenade, so to speak. It wasn’t a grenade, it was a firecracker. A tiny little firecracker which didn’t even make much noise. But boy, did people react to it. Now you get kind of a built-in — I don’t know, at least an incident to start from. Something, a spark of an idea, to do something fun. Have Jinder come in, Tony, and make you fear for your life. No, seriously! Okay, I’m having a little fun with it with the ‘fear for your life’ s**t. But I’m actually serious about, you know, ‘Why not?’”
Eric Bischoff Holds Nothing Back Over Recent AEW Angle
On April 24th, the wrestling world was talking about AEW once again as Tony Khan was attacked by The Elite and Jack Perry on Dynamite. Giving his brutally honest thoughts on the angle, Eric Bischoff explained why the segment was “f*cking horrible.”
