Booker T reacts to the shocking announcement of Vince McMahon’s retirement.
The wrestling world changed last Friday when Vince McMahon announced his retirement via social media. The 76-year-old wrestling promoter left amid a sexual misconduct scandal that has rocked the WWE landscape.
There have been many current and former stars who reacted to the news of McMahon’s departure online. One name who addressed the former CEO of WWE is Booker T.
During his appearance on the “Tobin & Leroy” podcast, the five-time WCW Champion spoke about McMahon’s legacy in the industry. Booker T also gave his opinion on the shift from Vince McMahon to Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan taking over.
“It’s the end of an era. Vince McMahon — he’s done so much for this business, and so many people like myself. I definitely felt some kind of a way about it.”
“I think at the end of the day, the ship is going to be directed and on course. I think in a situation like this, you’ve just got to know how to adapt, shift gears. WWE is the biggest company in the world, and we’ve got the best talent in the world … You never know with change, sometimes it might be a little bit better.”
Following McMahon’s sudden departure, it was announced that Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan would act as co-CEOs going forward. Regarding creative changes, Paul Levesque(Triple H) will now be Head of Creative.
There has been speculation on whether fans would immediately see changes made to WWE Raw this week following McMahon’s retirement. However, it appeared the script for this week’s episode was written before the significant shift in leadership occurred.
