Emergency Backup Plans In Place For WWE Crown Jewel Following “Imminent Attack” Report

Roman Reigns Logan Paul WWE Crown Jewel

For weeks, WWE has been promoting their return to Saudi Arabia on November 5th. The annual WWE Crown Jewel show is set to emanate from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Logan Paul is set to square off with Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event.

However, the Wall Street Journal broke news today that Saudi Arabia has shared with the United States knowledge of an “imminent threat” from Iran. It is said that the attacks are planned for “targets in the Kingdom.”

“We are concerned about the threat picture, and we remain in constant contact through military and intelligence channels with the Saudis,” said a National Security Council spokesperson. “We will not hesitate to act in the defense of our interests and partners in the region.”

WWE Has Plans In Place If WWE Crown Jewel Will Be Affected By This Threat

Naturally, the Wall Street Journal report has fans concerned about whether WWE Crown Jewel will be able to take place as advertised. According to a new report from PWInsider, the show is still set to go ahead. The report notes that WWE already has security protocols and emergency contingencies in place for if any issues do arise.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer confirmed on social media that WWE’s current plan is for the show to go ahead.

WWE Crown Jewel was established in 2018 and has become a permanent fixture on the WWE Premium Live Event calendar. The event was created as part of the 10-year agreement between WWE and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, tying in with their Saudi Vision 2030 initiative.

To date there have been three Crown Jewel events, with shows in 2018, 2019 and 2021. There was no event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
