Elayna Black shared an unfortunate update with her fans.
Formerly known as Cora Jade in WWE, Black has been active in the independent scene after her release from the Stamford-based promotion earlier this year. She had announced that she had “killed” her NXT character and was ready to completely embrace her darker former persona.
She also found success in the indies by winning a singles title for the first time in her career, when she became the Arizona Wrestling Federation’s AWF Women’s Champion in June this year.
Elayna Black had built a solid fan base and was looking set to be a regular in the indies, given her popularity, which is why it took fans by surprise when she announced that she was stepping away from wrestling for the foreseeable future, as she felt it was no longer good for her mental health.
Elayna Black Explains Her Situation And Why She Decided To Step Away From Wrestling
Taking to her X/Twitter account, she tweeted that she had planned a 10-minute-long video explaining the situation. However, she only chose to share an image of a note about the same.
Her tweet read:
I originally had a 10-minute-long video explaining where my head’s at, and maybe eventually I’ll post it, but [it] seems unnecessary for now. I’ll keep it short, but I am going to be taking a break from wrestling for the foreseeable future. It’s no longer good for my mental health, and I’ll never know if that love for it I once had will return if I don’t step away. I’m gonna take the rest of the year to take care of me and go from there.
I apologize to the fans and promoters who were looking forward to/booked my upcoming appearances. I hope you can understand. To my supporters, thank you🖤

While this update is disheartening for her fans, the silver lining in the situation is that Elayna Black took this hard call for her own well-being, and that should be respected. While there is a probable chance that fans may never see her back in action again, one can hope that, in time, she will return should she want to.
