According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, independent sensations Elayna Black and Lacey Ryan attended last week’s WWE tryouts in Orlando, Florida.
The tryouts were said to be for female performers only and WWE will hold further assessments later in November which are said to be focused on athletes outside professional wrestling. It would appear that the company are looking to recruit talent that no prior wrestling background.
Elayna Black is a name known to many thanks to her recent appearances on AEW Dark. Her debut for the company came on October 13 in a singles loss to Red Velvet and on November 3, she teamed with ‘Legit’ Layla Hirsch in a losing effort to Velvet and Brandi Rhodes.
With only two years under her belt, Black has made appearances for RISE Wrestling, GCW, Black Label Pro and SHIMMER. For Glory Pro Wrestling, she is part of The Sisters of Destruction tag team with Blair Onyx.
Utah native Lacey Ryan has been competing sporadically since 2013 when she made her debut for Vendetta Pro Wrestling. Since then, the talent has been part of NWA’s Ultra Championship Wrestling Zero and has made several appearances for IMPACT Wrestling in 2019.
Ryan looked at the lights for Taya Valkyrie, Kiera Hogan and Jordynne Grace in a bout for the IMPACT Knockouts Championships. Her greatest claim to fame, however, is as a member of the Championship Wrestling From Hollywood roster where she’s had a lingering rivalry with Heather Monroe.
Inside the Ropes will keep you up to date on whether Black or Ryan get signed by WWE in the coming weeks.
