Edge To Face AJ Styles At WrestleMania 38

Edge cuts a promo

After issuing an open challenge to the Monday Night Raw locker room, Edge now knows who he will face at WrestleMania 38.

On the February 21st episode of Monday Night Raw, Edge returned to the red brand with one thing on his mind, WrestleMania. After running down his achievements on the ‘Grandest Stage of them All’ he turned his attention to the 2022 edition of the extravaganza.

As things stood, the Hall of Famer was without an opponent, and he was not happy about it.

This led to the former World Champion issuing an open challenge to the Raw locker room, begging someone to step up and face him in Dallas. He made veiled hints and digs at AJ Styles, Finn Balor and even Cody Rhodes, but the decision was left up in the air.

Fast forward seven days and Edge was back in the ring, intensity dialled up to 100. After firing up the crowd he asked for his WrestleMania opponent to make themselves known. But there was silence. However, just as he was about to launch into a tirade against his would-be rivals, AJ Styles’ music hit to a thunderous ovation.

When Styles made it to the ring, he kept things short and sweet, simply stating “I accept.” Although this wasn’t enough for Edge. The Rated R Superstar said he wanted the bulldog AJ Styles and not the AJ Styles whose been playing “tag team bitch” for the last year. Styles was less than impressed with his rival, but as they teased a handshake, Edge launched into a full scale assault.

While the Phenomenal One briefly fought back, Edge was in full control, beating down Styles and setting him up for the Con-Chair-To. Although it initially looked like he might not be able to follow through with his plan, Edge went to that dark place he knows so well, not once, but twice, crushing Styles’ head with a steel chair.

The show went off the air with Edge retreating as Styles lay motionless.

In recent weeks and months, both men have been vocal about their desire to face the other, and now it appears that the dream match is set to come to fruition.

Elsewhere on the show, Finn Balor defeated Damian Priest to win the United States Championship. Not that he was able to enjoy his victory for long, as Priest viciously attacked him after the match, scolding the crowd for their lack of support.
