Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed that ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ Edge is looking for a match with Daniel Bryan in 2021.
Following his Royal Rumble victory on January 31, Edge has been active across all three of WWE’s main brand in his pursuit of a WrestleMania championship match. In the week following his victory, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has teased squaring off against Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship and put the winner of Pete Dunne vs. Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day on notice.
However, despite the enormity of his decision, there is another man that the former master of the five-second pose has his sights set firmly on and that’s the leader of the ‘Yes Movement’, Daniel Bryan.
In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer briefly noted that the star has heavily pushed for a clash with Bryan in 2021, which would be a dream match for millions:
“Edge has pushed that he’d like to have a match with Bryan this year.”
With Daniel Bryan heavily involved in the SmackDown creative as well in control of his own destiny, the likelihood of this bout occurring is a huge especially should Edge capture the blue belt at WrestleMania 37 and make Friday night’s his permanent home.
It has been heavily reported that Edge will challenge WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania 37 on April 10 and April 11.
