Edge Pays Tribute To “Insanely Talented” Sheamus

Sheamus & Edge on WWE SmackDown

Edge has reflected on the honour of facing Sheamus on SmackDown.

On the August 18th episode of SmackDown, Edge returned to Toronto and admitted the trip could be his last to the city as a WWE Superstar. The veteran has been open about the fact retirement is on the horizon, and has repeatedly stated his desire to retire in Toronto.

After Edge picked up the win he took to social media to praise his real-life friend, writing that he never realised just how good he was until they shared the ring.

“Full circle pints of Guiness. From Dublin to Toronto and 19 years in between. Back now after an amazing trip home to Toronto. What can I say? I’ll take that experience with me to the grave. Toronto you brought it. Speaking of bringing it, sheamus is a beast. As strange as this sounds it was pure joy in there. Just two buds beating the hell out of each other. I knew he was great. But I didn’t know how great. That dude is so insanely talented, spectacular at what he does, and just a damn hard worker. He is the epitome of work ethic. Can’t teach that. Thanks fella. It was an honor.”

Is Edge Joining AEW?

While the WWE Hall of Famer has hinted he might never return to the ring, things are reportedly far from set in stone. In fact, it’s been reported that Edge joining AEW isn’t as “out there” as many might believe.

This has led to speculation that the star could even make a surprise appearance at All In at Wembley Stadium on August 27th.

To raise money for Sami For Syria, the gear that Edge wore for the match against Sheamus will be going up for auction.
