Edge Heralds WWE Decision A “Stroke Of Genius”

Edge

When Edge began The Judgment Day by allying himself with Damian Priest at WrestleMania 38, little did anyone know the twists and turns the group would take over the following year.

After adding Rhea Ripley to the faction at Backlash the following month, The Rated-R Superstar sought to increase their power even more by recruiting Finn Balor that June. However, the plan backfired when Balor led Priest and Ripley in turning on their leader, beginning a feud that would last for months.

As well as Edge, the group had a rivalry with Rey and Dominik Mysterio, and everything seemed to be on the verge of reaching a conclusion at Clash at the Castle in September when Edge would team with Rey to take on Balor and Priest.

At the event, in a move that nobody saw coming, Dominik turned on both his father and Edge, attacking them after the match and joining Judgment Day.

In the months since, Dominik has become a key part of the faction’s story, engaging in a relationship with his ‘Mami’, Ripley, and tormenting his father wherever possible.

Edge hails addition of Dominik Mysterio to The Judgment Day

While it wasn’t the direction he expected, Edge has praised the addition of Dominik to the stable. Speaking to Corey Graves on After The Bell, the Hall of Famer called the move a “stroke of genius”.

“The addition of Dom to this thing, just such a just a stroke of genius honestly.

“I think from it Dom has been able to grow into such a major part of making this thing work.

The star went on to say he wouldn’t have expected the story to happen the way it did, but is proud of how his former teammates have become an integral part of Raw and SmackDown.

“If you had told any of us at WrestleMania of last year, ‘Oh yeah, by the way, they’re all going to turn on you, Finn Balor’s going to cause that to happen. Then Dom is going to join and become possibly the most despised character on the roster.'”

“That’s been, I think, one of the biggest surprises out of the whole thing is just to see where that has gone and what it adds to the show to it adds to the group but it also adds to the totality of the show.

“I’m strangely so proud that The Judgment Day has become such an important cog in the machine of Raw, and SmackDown for that matter.”

On the March 6th edition of Raw, the 11-time World Champion made it clear he wants to end things with The Judgment Day once and for all. After costing Balor his match against Johnny Gargano, the star said he will be waiting to meet him alone in the ring on March 13th. It is widely expected that the pair will meet at WrestleMania 39, potentially inside Hell in a Cell.
