At WWE Elimination Chamber, Edge teamed up with his wife, Beth Phoenix, to wreak revenge on The Judgment Day duo of Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley.
The beginning of the match was marked by a flat-out brawl between Phoenix and Ripley. Dominik attempted to make the difference by throwing in a pair of brass knuckles to “Mami” who blasted Edge but somehow the WWE Hall of Famer got his shoulder up.
Ripley and Phoenix then continued their wild fight on the outside with the veteran getting the upper hand by hitting the Glam-Slam.
Back in the ring, in a nod to AEW tag team FTR, Phoenix and Edge delivered The Shatter Machine to shatter the dreams of Finn Balor and score the win.
Edge provides update on retirement
Following the victory, Edge appeared at the post-Elimination Chamber press conference. There, he was asked if he still intended to retire this year, as he had previously stated during a promo on Raw when it hit Toronto in August.
The Rated-R Superstar said that, while he hadn’t thought about the timeframe, he was still planning to retire in his home country of Canada.
“I try not to make any firm decisions, but here’s what I can say about tonight. For nine years I was retired. I come back and I get to team with my wife, who I married while I was retired and had two beautiful little girls with.
“The fact that we get to do this at all, I never thought this would happen. We’re out there, and if it looks like we’re having, it’s because we are, we’re having a blast.
“I get to stand shoulder to shoulder with this woman. We get to hit a shatter machine, which we have never even attempted before, and pulled off. She hasn’t wrestled a match in a year and one month. Hops in there tonight in that kind of pressure cooker against two talents like that, and man, I’m just static.
“I’m not really thinking about what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow, let alone what I’m going to do five, six, seven, eight months from now. I will say, I would like it to be in Canada.”
