Not only was Edge challenged to a grudge match on Raw, his challenger wants the match to take place in his hometown of Toronto!
At WrestleMania 38, Damian Priest shocked the world by aligning himself with Edge and forming The Judgment Day. Rhea Ripley would be revealed as the group’s third member at WrestleMania Backlash, and the trio looked set to dominate – that is, until Finn Balor joined on the June 6th episode of Raw and kicked Edge out of the group, attacking the WWE Hall of Famer and writing him off television for months.
The Rated R Superstar made his grand return to WWE at SummerSlam, evening the odds in the No Disqualification match between The Judgment Day and the Mysterios and allowing Dominik and Rey Mysterio to pick up a victory.
The August 8th episode of Monday Night Raw saw Finn Balor defeat Rey Mysterio in singles action after it was revealed that Rhea Ripley had attacked Dominik backstage. Before the match could begin, however, Damian Priest took to the microphone and called out Edge, challenging him to a singles match to take place on the August 22nd episode of Raw in the WWE Hall of Famer’s hometown of Toronto, ON.

Elsewhere on the show, it was revealed that the team of Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY will take on Alexa Bliss, Asuka, and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at Clash at the Castle on September 3rd. Raw also saw the start of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament, which will feature NXT 2.0 talents Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark as part of the bracket.
