Edge has become the Special Enforcer for Fastlane’s Universal Championship match after defeating Jey Uso in his first SmackDown match in over a decade!
Last week, the idea of a special enforcer for Roman Reigns’ defence of the Univeral Championship against Daniel Bryan was suggested by Jey Uso who gave in to Bryan’s taunts during the contract signing of their match at Fastlane. Upon hearing this, Edge made his way to the ring and suggested that he face Uso for the coveted spot – setting in motion Edge’s in-ring return to the blue brand for the first time since 2011!
Despite the back-and-forth 12:03 contest that saw Uso nearly pick up the win on several occasions, ‘The Ultimate Opportunist’ eventually picked up the win. After kicking out from a Superkick/Uso Splash combination thanks to Jey’s hesitance, Edge managed to whip Jey’s injured arm and shoulder straight into the canvas before rebounding off the ropes and hitting a Spear to incapacitate the six-time tag champion for the three-count.

Immediately following Edge’s victory, ‘The Tribal Chief’ appeared seemingly out of nowhere to attack his WrestleMania opponent with a vicious Spear of his own. Reigns would then taunt Bryan to enter the ring and face him but as Bryan did so, Uso blindsided him before rolling him into the ring – allowing Reigns to hit a second Spear on his challenger on March 21st.
This Sunday will mark the second time Reigns and Bryan have faced off at a Fastlane pay-per-view. The two also did battle back in 2015 with the winner going on to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31. Reigns would come out victorious, countering Bryan’s second attempt at the Running Knee into the Spear and pinning the ‘Leader of the Yes Movement’ for the three-count.
