Edge Defeats AJ Styles, Rhea Ripley Joins Judgement Day

Edge overcame AJ Styles at WrestleMania Backlash but he had more than a little helping hand from new ally Rhea Ripley!

At WrestleMania 38, Edge squared off against AJ Styles in what many fans had termed a dream match. However, the match became best remembered for Edge forming a new alliance with Damian Priest which enabled him to win the match.

In the weeks following the event, the pair, now known as Judgement Day continued to target Styles, injuring his shoulder on Raw. This led to a rematch being announced for WrestleMania Backlash.

The rematch started out at a frantic pace, with Styles attempting to put his rival away as quickly as possible. Despite this, Edge targeted Styles’ injured shoulder and took control. From there on out, the story of the bout was Styles battling through the pain as the Hall of Famer laid waste to his already injured shoulder.

Although, Styles isn’t a former World Champion for nothing, and the Phenomenal One fought back hitting a Styles Clash, but Edge kicked out. At this, Styles climbed the turnbuckle, but was interrupted by Damian Priest coming to ringside, who in turn was attacked by Finn Balor as he had been on Raw.

With Styles perched on the top rope, he was pushed to the mat by a mysterious figure who then stood motionless at ringside. Back in the ring, Edge locked in a Cross-face until Styles passed out.

After the match, the mystery attacker was revealed to be Rhea Ripley. The former Raw Women’s Champion had turned on her former tag team partner Liv Morgan on the run up to the show.

It was reported back in April that Rhea Ripley would be joining the stable, along with former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa.
