Eddie Kingston Injured At NJPW Resurgence

Eddie Kingston on hands and knees in ring at NJPW Resurgence

Eddie Kingston has suffered a legitimate injury ahead of competing in Anarchy in the Arena at AEW Double or Nothing.

At NJPW Resurgence on May 11th, Kingston defended the STRONG Openweight Title against Gabe Kidd. The bad blood between the pair came to a head as the match become a brutal war. In the end, it was Kidd who emerged with the gold after dropping Kingston through a table on the outside.

After the match, The Young Bucks returned to an NJPW ring for the first time in five years. Alongside Jack Perry, the pair attacked Kingston in the latest chapter of a rivalry that will come to a head at AEW Double or Nothing when the New Elite faces Kingston, Bryan Danielson, and FTR in an Anarchy in the Arena match.

Unfortunately, Kingston’s participation in that match could be in doubt.

Eddie Kingston Injured During Table Spot At NJPW Resurgence

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that when Kingston went through the table during his match with Kidd, his leg hit a barricade. Afterwards, The Mad King could be seen to be limping through the post-match angle and was later said to be limping “bad” backstage.

“Eddie did hurt his leg. So I don’t know how bad his leg is hurt. But when he went into the barricade and went down, one of the reasons it took so long for Jack Perry to come out is they were making sure that Eddie was able to get in the ring.

“And so you can even hear, I’m pretty sure, on the live feed. You could hear him say something like, ‘I think I can make it to the back or something like that.’ But he said he said something to one of the referees that I don’t think you were supposed to hear.

“He managed to get into the ring, and they were able to do the angle. But he was limping bad backstage. And I mean, the fact that he’s walking around, like, hopefully, he’s gonna be alright.”

While there is the potential for Kingston to have suffered a serious injury, Alvarez made clear that his status is not yet known.

“But it could be a serious injury. We don’t know yet. But he definitely hurt his leg when he hit it on that guardrail, and there was concern that he wouldn’t be able to do the angle afterwards.”

With many AEW stars out injured, one former champion has provided a positive recovery update.
