Eddie Kingston wanted the headline and he’s adamant that Chris Jericho is the reason that Santana and Ortiz are not AEW World Tag Team Champions.
Kingston has been joined by his friends and Inner Circle members Santana and Ortiz in an increasingly violent war against 2point0 and Daniel Garcia on AEW television. Chris Jericho has had his troubles with Parker, Lee, and Garcia as well but Kingston has not taken kindly to his help in dispatching the trio of troublemakers.
Speaking candidly on the Battleground podcast, Eddie Kingston gave his opinion that Chris Jericho has held Santana and Ortiz back in the Inner Circle and without Jericho, the former IMPACT World Tag Team Champions would be sitting atop AEW’s own tag team mountain:
“If I had my way…there are a lot of things going on with Garcia and 2point0 and now Jericho is sticking his nose in my business. I love PNP, those are my boys for years, I love them both to death. I don’t like it that they are with Jericho and never did. Whatever we all have to make money.”
“I have my own opinion on Jericho. I don’t want his help, I don’t need his help. He’s helping out PNP, but are they world tag team champions? No, because they are busy dealing with Jericho’s beef. You can put this on clickbait, clickbait the sh*t out of this if it wasn’t for Chris Jericho and his beef with random people, Proud N Powerful would be world tag team champions.”
“I’m saying it now. If Jericho don’t like it, come see me in Raleigh, I’ll be there. Jericho is not the guy from Smokey Mountain, he’s not the guy from New Japan. Don’t come at me and try to help me. I don’t want your help. Go help PNP get a world tag title shot instead of worrying about yourself. Clickbait it.”
Despite their history together and success in AEW, Santana and Ortiz have only ever had one shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship and that came on Dynamite in February 2021 against The Young Bucks.
The Inner Circle has not been seen as a complete unit in some time but while part of the group Sammy Guevara achieved title success as he captured the TNT Championship. Guevara is currently the Interim TNT Champion after defeating Dustin Rhodes at Battle Of The Belts after his title match against Cody Rhodes was cancelled.
