A new report sheds light on the reason Eddie Kingston hasn’t been featured on AEW programming in the past few weeks.
Along with his friends Santana and Ortiz, Eddie Kingston has been at odds with the Jericho Appreciation Society for months, and according to a new report from Fightful Select, he was meant to face Sammy Guevara at the upcoming AEW All Out on September 4th. However, the match has reportedly been scrapped.
According to Fightful Select, one of the reasons Kingston hasn’t been on television in recent weeks is that he was briefly suspended by AEW. While the report notes that AEW has not confirmed this news, Fightful Select is under the impression that the suspension is already complete. He has not been present at the television tapings, and Fightful was told of at least one segment building to a potential Eddie Kingston vs. Sammy Guevara bout was scrapped.
Continuing, the report goes on to mention rumors among talent that Kingston and Guevara had developed real life heat that led to an “altercation.” According to backstage rumors, Guevara made a comment about Kingston’s physique and Eddie Kingston was said to have taken a swing at him. Fightful hasn’t been able to confirm that information with first-hand witnesses and has reached out to both parties but has yet to hear any word from them.
Despite Eddie Kingston vs. Sammy Guevara being in jeopardy, the feud between the factions is set to continue as Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara will be taking on Ortiz and Ruby Soho on the upcoming episode of Rampage.
Fightful has not heard any official word on whether or not the situation between Kingston and Guevara has been rectified or the status of their potential match.
Kingston recently spoke about hating his matches with Chris Jericho, calling them a “headache.”
While this one match might be up in the air, multiple other matches were made official for All Out on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. Christian Cage accepted Jungle Boy’s challenge, and Ricky Starks called out Powerhouse Hobbs after his former partner turned on him weeks ago. Swerve in Our Glory also declared The Acclaimed worthy of facing them for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
