Sabu has blasted the WWE Hall of Fame for its inclusion of celebrities.
Over his three-decade career, the star wrestled all over the world, but is likely best known for his time in ECW. There, the hardcore legend was a two-time World Champion as well as holding the TV and Tag Team Titles alongside Rob Van Dam.
After the promotion closed its doors in 2001, the star became a fixture of the independent scene as well as having a run in TNA and a brief stint in WWE from 2006-2007.
With a storied career behind him, many are surprised that the ‘Homicidal Suicidal Genocidal Death-Defying Maniac’ hasn’t been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Speaking on DonutShopChronicles365, the star says he doesn’t think he ever will be, not least because he doesn’t feel his time there was worthy of the accolade.
“I don’t know. Probably never, really. I’m not eligible for the WWE Hall of Fame, not that I want to be anyway, because I didn’t have a Hall of Fame career while I was there. Another Hall of Fame, who knows.”
Although he appreciates that fans believe he should be in the Hall of Fame, the star explained why he thinks it’s “bulls**t” anyway.
“I appreciate that. Rob Van Dam is Hall of Fame material too, but is Drew Carey? Is Drew Carey Hall of Fame material? He goes in it, that means it’s going to be bulls**t. If he’s in it, it’s bulls**t.”
Sabu Lays Out Retirement Plans
During the same interview, Sabu revealed he is likely to retire very soon. While he hasn’t wrestled since 2021, the star believes he has another year of a “hard schedule” in him, or two years if he takes it easier.
Also in the interview, the ECW legend gave his thoughts on WWE’s revival of the brand.
Additionally, the former WWE star admitted that he dreaded working with The Big Show.
