ECW Legend Outlines Retirement Plans

ECW Legend Outlines Retirement Plans

Former WWE Superstar and ECW icon Sabu has opened up about his plans for his future retirement.

Speaking on the Donut Shop Chronicles podcast, the hardcore legend acknowledged that his time in the ring is limited but expressed a strong desire to compete in a few more matches before hanging up his boots.

I’d like to wrestle forever, but I know I can’t. I’m getting a lot older. Probably another year, maybe two years. I can do another hard schedule for a year. I can do an easy schedule for two years.

Despite his decades-long career and numerous injuries, Sabu remains active on the independent wrestling circuit. His recent appearances include stints with GCW and a memorable cameo in AEW. In 2023, he notably cornered Adam Cole during Cole’s match against Chris Jericho at Double or Nothing, adding his unmistakable presence to a high-profile feud.

His resilience and commitment have made him a beloved figure among fans of hardcore wrestling. While he’s realistic about the toll wrestling has taken on his body, his enthusiasm for the ring hasn’t waned.

During the same interview, Sabu explained why he doesn’t think a WWE Hall of Fame induction is in his future.

Which ECW Tribute Show Did Sabu Brand As “Lame”?

Sabu spoke about what he thought of NXT’s ECW tribute show which was held in the old ECW arena on November 6th and said that he thought that it was “lame” due to the arena not looking the same as it did in the late 1990s and the fact the show didn’t feature appearances from either himself of fellow hardcore icon Sandman.
