Raven has admitted that he doesn’t expect to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024, despite the ceremony being held in Philadelphia,
With the news that WrestleMania is heading to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in 2024, many have wondered whether the Hall of Fame inductions will have an ECW flavour.
ECW made Philadelphia home during the 1990s and became a symbol of the wrestling culture in the area. The close relationship between the city and the company ensures that even to this day, more than 20 years after it closed its doors, “EC-Dub” chants can be heard whenever WWE visits the city.
The knock-on effect was that when performers became stars in ECW, they became heroes to the wrestling fans in Philadelphia.
With this in mind, many fans have suggested that the Hall of Fame ceremony taking place in the city represents the perfect chance to honour the likes of Paul Heyman, Raven, and others.
However, speaking in a new interview with PWMania, Raven said that he was not expecting to get the call. The ECW legend highlighted how Vince McMahon never saw him as a major star while he was with WWE despite his success in ECW.
“I’m not expecting that to happen. I don’t think they see me that way. I don’t think Vince sees me that way. And obviously, if he saw me in that light, he would have used me better when I was there, so yeah, that’s not happening. I would almost bet everything I own that I’m not going to be inducted this year or any year in the future. And I think that’s why the Impact thing means a lot to me.
Also the IMPACT thing they only do one person a year. So that means a lot too, because you’re not doing five, six people are you know, half a dozen. Well, I guess five or six is half a dozen.”
Kevin Nash Claims WWE Hall Of Fame Ceremony Is No Longer Special
Reflecting on the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Kevin Nash stated that the occasion has lost some of its shine. In recent years the ceremony has taken place directly following SmackDown, with the inductions taking place inside the ring. Nash stated that the event now feels like “segment five on Raw.”
