A former ECW World Champion has let their feelings be known on WWE star Finn Balor and AEW star Will Ospreay.
Balor and Ospreay have each found championship success in 2024. In WWE, Balor has reigned as the Tag Team Champion alongside Damian Priest and JD McDonagh and has frequently been a part of the main event scene. For Ospreay, the British star reigned twice as the International Champion while also having some of the best matches of the year. Despite both being popular in their respective promotions, one legend is not the biggest fan.
Speaking with Covalent, Sabu was asked about some of the stars of today. First discussing Balor, Sabu noted that the former Universal Champion has lost star power compared to some of his previous work:
“Finn Balor, but then they programmed him to be one of them. Nothing against it. Nothing personal. But he’s not the same. I could see when things didn’t go right, it didn’t bother him. Same with me. When things didn’t go right, that was my best stuff,”
When discussing Ospreay, the ECW legend stated that he likes the AEW star but is just not a fan of his in-ring style:
“I like Will Ospreay, I just don’t like watching him. He’s a great worker and a good gymnast and all that stuff, but … his stuff is too choreographed. Backflip over the ropes all the time, that’s all gymnast stuff. It’s okay. But as a regular thing, no. Would I want to watch that? No, I’d want to see a wrestler [grapple].”
Finn Balor’s Bad Luck Continues
Although Balor did have multiple championship reigns in 2024, he was unable to end his 8 year drought and win the top title on Raw. Unfortunately for Finn Balor, things recently went from bad to worse as he is no longer a Tag Team Champion.
Also in the interview, the ECW legend took issue with the NXT show at the 2300 Arena.
