ECW Legend Calls WWE NXT Tribute Show “Lame”

ECW Legend Calls Recent WWE NXT Tribute Show

Not everyone was a fan of the WWE NXT special that paid homage to ECW.

With Tuesday, November 5th being the night that the result of the Presidential Election was announced, NXT was moved to the following night. Looking to make the night a big one given NXT was outside its usual timeslot, the show was broadcast live from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, the site of many ECW pay-per-views.

As expected, multiple ECW legends were advertised ahead of time including Rob Van Dam, Dawn Marie and Bubba Ray Dudley. Additionally, Little Guido and D-Von Dudley made surprise appearances later that night. Fans of the extreme promotion were given an injection of nostalgia and the stars of the future were given increased exposure due to their interactions. Despite this, one of the biggest stars from ECW saw things differently.

2-time ECW World Champion Sabu was a recent guest on Covalent TV. When asked about the NXT show, the ECW legend stated that it was “lame”, mostly due to 2 notable omissions:

“I thought it was lame. Even though it’s a good show, good wrestlers, it was lame for a nostalgia ECW thing. The building doesn’t look the same. It’s not the same.”

“It’s not really a reunion or a top-notch thing, without me or Sandman. Both of us or one or the other. It’s kind of a must, I think,”

Recently Sabu spoke about his plans for his future retirement.

Son Of Boxing Legend Appears Before WWE NXT Goes On Air

With the likes of Bron Breakker and Dominik Mysterio making a name for themselves in WWE, many young stars with famous parents in the sports world are looking to become the next big thing in wrestling. Ahead of the December 10th episode of NXT, the son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield made his WWE debut.

Also in the interview, the ECW legend criticised Finn Balor and Will Ospreay.
