Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Announced For Second DC Film

The Rock

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been announced as voicing Krypto the Super-Dog in the upcoming Warner Bros’ animated feature, ‘DC’s League of Super-Pets’.

It was recently announced that not only will ‘The Brahma Bull’ voice Superman’s canine companion in the upcoming release, but Johnson’s production company Seven Bucks have also signed on to work on the feature.

The film is set to be directed by Jared Stern, who wrote DC’s box office hit Lego Batman. The League of Super-Pets’ past endeavours have included the likes of Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey and Comet the Super-Horse. The movie is set for release in May 2022, coinciding with the release of Mission: Impossible 7 and John Wick: Chapter 4.

The film was initially announced back in 2018, however, the addition of Dwayne Johnson to the cast is a recent announcement. This comes just a few weeks after Black Adam, another character in the DC universe and upcoming film starring Johnson, announced that filming had begun.

News of Johnson’s involvement with the upcoming feature was broken by Deadline Hollywood. Shortly after, ‘The People’s Champion’ would take to Twitter to voice his excitement over the project:

At the time of writing, Dwayne Johnson is the only cast member announced for ‘DC’s League of Super-Pets’. A wider cast reveal is expected in the coming months. This latest role announcement adds to the seemingly endless list of The Rock’s projects and achievements. Under Armours ‘Project Rock’ sportswear continues to grow, whilst Johnson’s own line of tequila, Teremana, launched in 2020.

Johnson is also the focus of ‘Young Rock’, a biopic sitcom that launched in early 2021, detailing the origins and early life of the most electrifying man in all of entertainment.
