Dwayne Johnson Confirms He’s Talked With Nick Khan About WWE Role

The Rock Dwayne Johnson

Long before Dwayne Johnson took Hollywood by storm, he became a household name in WWE as The Rock, a multi-time WWE Champion and one of the most popular stars to ever grace the squared circle. While he’s now a successful producer and Hollywood megastar with multiple business ventures, Johnson has continued to make sporadic appearances with WWE, last appearing in the company in October of 2019 for a promo segment alongside Becky Lynch.

WWE has undergone a multitude of changes since Dwayne Johnson‘s move to Hollywood, the most notable of which came this year when Vince McMahon announced his retirement in July amidst an investigation into alleged misconduct and hush money payments. In the wake of his retirement, Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan share duties as co-CEO’s of the company while Triple H is in charge of all creative and talent decisions as Chief Content Officer.

Dwayne Johnson Loves Professional Wrestling And Has Spoken With Nick Khan About A Potential Role In WWE

During a recent interview with BNN Bloomberg, Dwayne Johnson was asked if he’d ever consider making a strategic investment in WWE or whether he’d ever take on a Director role in the company. While he didn’t go into much detail, he did confirm that he’s spoken with WWE CEO Nick Khan about the possibility of a WWE role while promoting his Teremana tequila brand.

“Nick [Khan] and I have talked about that, and we always enjoy that over a bottle of Teremana.”

Continuing, Johnson expressed his love for the wrestling business he grew up in as a third generation performer. While he doesn’t know if a WWE executive role is in his future, he doesn’t rule out future plans with the company.

“I love the wrestling business. I grew up in it. My grandfather [and] my dad started here in Canada, where [his father] was born. So, I’m not quite too sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure.”

It comes as no surprise that Dwayne Johnson and Nick Khan would have talks together as the two are lifelong friends. The WWE CEO’s sister Nahnatchka Khan created the show Young Rock, which chronicles Johnson’s journey to WWE and his life growing up with wrestler Rocky Johnson as his father.
