Dwayne Johnson is now the highest paid actor in Hollywood, but as a child, his family often had trouble making ends meet. As such, the man who would go on to become The Rock often resorted to stealing in the days before he made his own name in WWE as a third generation superstar.
In a video posted to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson‘s Instagram, the megastar told the tale of how he went to one particular 7-Eleven store during his time living in Hawaii and stole a Snickers bar daily as he couldn’t afford to buy one. He said he used the Snickers bar as pre-workout food, and that he did this every day for nearly a year at the young age of 14.
Now, decades after his family was evicted from their home in Hawai’i in 1987, Dwayne Johnson returned to that same 7-Eleven store and purchased every Snickers bar they had on the shelf, much to the shock of the clerk who had to count the items. Johnson joked that the clerk, whose name was BK, didn’t want to hear his stories as he was counting.
The Rock also proceeded to take care of the bill for the other customers shopping in the store, wanting to give back to the community where he was raised. He left the Snickers bars in the store after paying for them, saying that if anyone was in need, they should take from that stash instead of resorting to theft. The video, which also captures the shocked reactions of the 7-Eleven customers, can be seen in its entirety below.
I finally exorcised this damn chocolate demon thatβs been gnawing at me for decades
π π« ππ½ββοΈWe were evicted from Hawaii in β87 and after all these years – I finally got back home to right this wrong.
I was broke as hell, so I used to steal a king sized @snickers EVERY DAY from 7-11 for almost a year when I was 14yrs old, on my way to the gym.
The Snickers was my pre daily workout ππΎββοΈ π
The same clerk was there every day and always just turned her head and never busted me.
Iβve exercised a few big demons over the years (I still have a few left;) so I know this one seems VERY SILLY, but every time I come back home to Hawaii and drive by 7-11β¦
I always knew I needed to go in and clean out every Snickers bar they had – the right way
πππ«And as a bonus it was a lot of fun to take care of everybody who walked into 7-11 while I was there.
Least I could do considering all the shit I used to steal from here
πππ½ββοΈπWe canβt change the past and some of the dumb stuff we may have done, but every once in a while we can add a little redeeming grace note to that situation β and maybe put a big smile on some strangerβs faces.
