The speculation around a potential WrestleMania 39 appearance for Dwayne Johnson continues to grow, with answers seemingly still as out of reach as ever.
Although his full-time wrestling career is well and truly behind him, it has long been believed that the star known as The Rock would be lacing up his boots once more time to face Roman Reigns. The intra-family battle would see the biggest name in WWE today tackle arguably the biggest star to ever compete for the company. However, as the old wrestling adage goes, the match isn’t confirmed until all involved are actually in the ring.
Speculation Regarding Dwayne Johnson Continues
While The Rock hasn’t ruled wrestling again, it has now been reported that there’s a “very real possibility” that he isn’t involved at WrestleMania 39. It has also been noted that WWE are looking to confirm Rock’s WrestleMania plans before the Royal Rumble on January 28th.
Despite the uncertainty, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. has claimed that the match is more likely than not going to happen. Speaking on his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, the star said that the match needed to take place.
“I actually think this isn’t a rumor, I actually think they’re trying to plan for this, I think a WrestleMania with The Rock and Roman Reigns could happen, should happen, and the reason why has nothing to do with either of those two men.”
Prinze Jr added that the storyline could be used to break Solo Sikoa away from The Bloodline, where he could even side with The Rock.
“I think ultimately Solo is going to be the one that leaves The Bloodline,” he continued, “and I think he may even turn babyface and side with The Rock.”
Ric Flair recently suggested that if Dwayne Johnson misses WrestleMania, he would like to see with Randy Orton or Cody Rhodes take his place.
