Dwayne Johnson Reacts To Steve Austin Training Video Amidst Return Rumours

The Rock - Dwayne Johnson

Back on November 14th the wrestling rumour mill went into overdrive with the news that Steve Austin has been offered the chance to return to the ring. As chatter across the internet reached fever pitch, even Austin’s great friend and rival Dwayne Johnson has moved to comment.

It had previously been believed that The Texas Rattlesnake would never wrestle again owing to a series of serious neck injuries. The man himself even said on numerous occasions that he was content with never wrestling again, but eventually the lure of ‘one more match’ was too much. Austin laced up his boots one more time and rolled back the years to earn a win over Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.

Dwayne Johnson Comments On Steve Austin Return Rumours

Following a week of rampant speculation, Steve Austin broke his silence on the speculation in a short video posted on Instagram. In the clip the WWE legend said that people can think what they want, but the truth is that he was training as he got tired of “looking like sh*t.”

“People have been speculating ‘Hey Steve, what are you doing? What are you training for? You training for an event?’ You can speculate what you want, I just looked in the mirror and realised that I looked like sh*t, so I called my diet coach up…

As far as bodyweight goes, probably sub 232 [lbs] the leanest I’ve been in sh*t, forever. Anyway that’s the bottom line, I just got tired of, I looked in the mirror and I looked like sh*t. Got tired of looking like sh*t, so I’m taking action to do something about it.”

Fans were also quick to notice a familiar name jumping into the action in the comments, that of Dwayne Johnson. The star also known as The Rock said that the Austin fans see in the clip is exactly how he is in real life. “Straight up, direct, no bullsh*t.”

“Maaaan for everyone watching this, let me just say that how Steve is talking here, is exactly how talks in person and why we became brothers. Straight up, direct, no bullshit. Good or bad. You’ll always get the real. Keep kicking ass my brother.
And you know I gotta say it, “thank you for the house”

Dwayne Johnson shared a trilogy of huge WrestleMania matches against Steve Austin in 1999, 2001 and 2003. Thee final match of the three at WrestleMania 19 was Austin’s last until he faced Owens almost two decades later.
