Although the peaks of being a professional wrestler can be incredibly high, full-time stars have deal with difficult lows on a regular basis. Something that doesn’t change even if you’re WWE legend Dwayne Johnson.
The man known as The Rock began his wrestling journey in 1996 and was standing at the top of the WWF two years later. By 2000 and into 2001 he was one of the biggest names in the industry and one of the most popular stars ever. It was during this period that his first daughter was born. Simone Johnson was born on August 14th when Rock was at the peak of his powers in WWE. Although he had begun to take his first steps into Hollywood, he was still considered full-time.
However, it wouldn’t be long until his wrestling career was all but over and by 2003 his appearances were few and far between.
Dwayne Johnson Discusses His Role As A Father
In a post on Instagram, Johnson reflected on life and his role as a father. In the clip he can be seen explaining that once he left WWE he made a promise to himself to not do anything that takes away from his role of being “dad.”
“I know a lot of you men out there understand me when I say, of all the roles us men play in our daily hustle and grind of life – my favorite one of all, is “dad”.
I know what it’s like to have a job you love (pro wrestler) and yet it takes you away from the thing you love most (your first born child) from years of being on the road wrestling. I made a promise that I would never do business in anything again that took me away from my family.
That’s why these days I do my best to protect “being dad” with all I got to my three daughters..”
It has long been rumoured that Dwayne Johnson will be returning to face Roman reigns at WrestleMania 39. However, it was recently reported that there is a “very real” possibility he won’t be on the show.
