Dwayne Johnson is known for his ferocious work ethic and often superhuman schedule.
Between being the leading man in Hollywood, a family man, being involved in numerous successful business ventures, and one of the most famous people on the planet there is little downtime available. However, that has begun to change.
Dwayne Johnson Making Changes
Appearing on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street,” Johnson said that his mentality was always to make space for more, and that created an imbalance, leading to a breaking point.
“I used to have this mentality… that ‘well my plate is full, however, I’m going to make room for more’ — And I could find a way to do that.”
“In many ways, I was forcing a lot of things throughout the years that caused somewhat of an imbalance.”
Johnson explained that in an effort to redress this balance, he now surrounds himself with people who are “much smarter” in different disciplines.
Despite having not wrested a full match in more than a decade it was widely believed that Johnson would be getting back in the ring to take on Roman Reigns. The clash would take place at WrestleMania 39 and would pit the biggest star of today against arguably the biggest star of the past. However, it appears that Johnson has ruled out competing at WWE’s biggest show of the year.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that Johnson has indicated that he wouldn’t have time to get into shape for a main event clash with Reigns. However, he left the door open to work with WWE in the future. The report adds that there is also the possibility that a potential match and appearance is being kept secret.
“Those close to the situation have noted WWE coming out with new Rock merchandise, but said that is more related to the 30th anniversary of Raw. We were told that unless he changes his mind in the next few days, since a deadline for Mania plans is coming, that he’s indicated he won’t have time to get into the kind of shape he feels he needs to be in to do a main event match with Roman Reigns, but kept the door open for something in the future. Of course it is a possibility that it’s something being kept a secret from everyone.”
Dwayne Johnson’s last match came at WrestleMania XXIX in 2013 where he was defeated by John Cena.
