Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam Passes Incredible Milestone

Dwayne Johnson

Releasing worldwide on Friday, October 21, Black Adam has proved financially successful for DC Comics, despite mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. It was previously noted that the film marked the best opening weekend for any Dwayne Johnson-led movie. Now in its third week of release, the film is still breaking records.

Having won the box office for the third straight weekend, it’s said that Black Adam has grossed $300 million worldwide as of Sunday, November 6. Taking in $18.5 million from domestic box office receipts, it brought in double that of its second-place counterpart One Piece Film: Red.

With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Friday, November 11, it’s expected that Black Adam’s mighty run at the box office will finally reach its conclusion.

Black Adam Producer Teases Dwayne Johnson Vs. Henry Cavill Showdown

Speaking with CinemaBlend, Hiram Garcia – a producer on Black Adam and has previously worked alongside Dwayne Johnson on a number of projects, including Young Rock – teased that Johnson’s Black Adam character was set for a showdown with Henry Cavill’s Superman:

“It’s never been about a one-off or just about a fight. No, it’s about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides.

Hopefully, they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe.”

Dwayne Johnson will next play the role of Black Adam, this time in only a voice capacity, in Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
