Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic To Be Held Across NXT And 205 Live

WWE have officially announced that the upcoming Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will be held across both NXT and 205 Live.

During the January 8 edition of the purple brand, NXT General Manager William Regal appeared in a specially shot video to announce that the cruiserweight show will play host to several bouts of the men’s tournament.

While it’s not currently known which matches the Friday show will air, the men’s side of the tournament will begin on January 13 with The Undisputed ERA vs. Breezango and The Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Ever-Rise.

The winners of the competition will receive the traditional Dusty Cup as well as a shot at current NXT Tag Team Champions Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan at NXT TakeOver most likely on February 14.

On December 30, 2020, WWE announced all the teams to compete in the competition as being The Undisputed ERA, Breezango, Ever-Rise, The Grizzled Young Veterans, The Bollywood Boyz, August Grey and Curt Stallion, Drake Maverick and Killian Dain, Imperium, Jake Atlas and Isiah Scott, Kushida and Leon Ruff, Legado del Fantasma and The Way.

On January 6 at NXT New Year’s Evil, the company announced that there would also be a Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic held later in the year.

Previous winner of the tournament include Finn Balor and Samoa Joe (2015), The Authors of Pain (2016), The Undisputed ERA (2018), Aleister Black and Ricochet (2019) and The BroserWeights (2020).
