Dustin Rhodes Addresses AEW Future

Dustin Rhodes has no intentions of leaving AEW.

Back in February 2022, Cody Rhodes shocked the wrestling world when he announced that he would be departing the company he helped to establish. Returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and finishing the story 2 years later, does the AEW star have any plans to follow in his brother’s footsteps?

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Rhodes stated that he is happy in AEW and excited for what the future holds:

“No, I’m happy there. I’m very happy in AEW and it’s a good place for me. We’re growing, we’re doing some wonderful things, business is up, everything is great. It’s a different style over there as it is WWE. We have some of the greatest professional wrestlers on the planet in that company and it is special to watch them even to have a chance to step in the ring with him.

My God, there’s some good talent there. They do some amazing stuff, just incredible stuff, like different category stuff. Will Ospreay, they have to build a new category for him because he is insane and he’s so young. It’s amazing the incredible things that he does. It’s nuts.”

Rhodes famously competed in WWE as Goldust, winning the Intercontinental Championship 3 times and the Tag Team Championships 3 times.

During a separate interview, Dustin Rhodes looked back on an “incredible” WrestleMania weekend that saw Cody Rhodes achieve the biggest win of his career.

Dustin Rhodes Discusses Retirement

Making his in-ring debut in 1988, The Natural has had a decorated career and still shows no signs of slowing down. However, at 55 years old, Rhodes is also aware that the final match is not too far away. When asked about that final match, Rhodes responded that it won’t be this year:

“No. I did last year, a little bit. It’s one of those things I need to sit down and think about this type of conversation with myself and weigh the cons and the pros. Not yet. I would say, two to three years, maybe.”

In July 2024, Dustin Rhodes set the record straight regarding an AEW rumour.
