While waking up from a night out with friends with a hangover is par for the course. Waking up to remember that yes, you did in fact change your name to John Cena is not your average headache.
Speaking to The Sun, Lewis Oldfield from Bradford has explained how a few drinks with his mates ended up with him changing his name to that of the 16-time world champion. All of that despite not even being a wrestling fan!
Oldfield explained how a drinks with friends ended with them performing wrestling moves on one another. So far, so good. However, things took a turn when friends dared the 23-year-old to change his name by deed poll to John Cena. Never one to turn down a dare, Oldfield accepted.
He even went as far as paying £75 to change his name on his passport.
“We’d had a few drinks and were play-wrestling. We were just messing around, pretending to do announcements like in WWE and one of my friends was introducing John Cena.
“One thing led to another and they dared me to change my name to John Cena.
“I was going to get a tattoo saying it but did this instead. I always follow through with dares so I just did it. I’m not even a wrestling fan!”
He added: “My mum couldn’t stop laughing at me when she found out.
“My dad’s more serious so I’ve not told him yet.”
Oldfield went on to admit that he actually likes the name so plans on keeping it.
John Cena also recently opened up about his own alcohol-fuelled night that went badly wrong.
Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, John Cena revealed how paying for all of the drinks at his brother’s wedding resulted in a fist fight on the dance floor.
As many will testify, an open bar at a wedding can be fraught with more danger than a Barbed Wire Death Match. Something Cena and rest of the party found out the hard way. Luckily the brawl didn’t involve the groom, instead another of Cena’s younger brother’s Dan.
